LIVE IN THE MOMENTS THAT MATTER
Why Soy Wax
Every Candles By Twice candle is hand-poured in San Jose, CA, and every one starts with the same wax: 100% soy. Here is what that means, why we chose it, and how to read a candle label with confidence.
What is soy wax?
Soy wax is made from soybeans. It is a renewable, plant-based wax, and it is biodegradable.
Why 100% soy matters
- A cleaner burn. Soy wax burns evenly and cleanly with our cotton wicks.
- No paraffin. There are no petroleum byproducts in the wax.
- Gentler for scent-sensitive noses. Many people who are sensitive to scented products find soy candles a softer way to enjoy fragrance.
What we pour: 100% soy wax
Every Candles By Twice candle is made with 100% soy wax. It contains no paraffin.
- Made for warm weather and shipping. Our soy wax has a melt point that holds up in warm climates and on the road to your door.
- Room for real fragrance. It carries our fragrance oils well, so our scents stay rich and true.

How 100% soy compares
| 100% soy wax | Blends that include paraffin | |
|---|---|---|
| Wax source | Soybeans (renewable) | Includes a petroleum-derived wax |
| Paraffin | None | Present |
| Can be called “100% soy” | Yes | No |
What to watch for on other labels
Not every candle that sounds natural is paraffin-free. Some “natural” blends, such as coconut-apricot blends or fortified soy, can contain paraffin as a binder or softener, and the label may not say so.
Only a candle with no paraffin can be called 100% soy. If a label says “soy blend” or “natural wax blend,” it is worth asking what else is in the wax.
Good to know: candle care
- Trim the wick to ¼ inch before every burn.
- Burn for 2–3 hours at a time.
- On the first burn, let the wax melt all the way across the surface. This helps prevent tunneling.
- Keep your candle away from drafts.
Soy wax FAQ
Is your wax really 100% soy?
Yes. Every candle we pour is made with 100% soy wax and contains no paraffin.
What’s wrong with paraffin?
Nothing mysterious. Paraffin is a petroleum-derived wax, and we simply prefer a plant-based, renewable wax made from soybeans. That is our choice for our candles.
Is “soy blend” the same as 100% soy?
Not necessarily. A blend can include other waxes, sometimes paraffin. Only candles with no paraffin can be called 100% soy.
Do your candles melt in the heat?
Our soy wax has a melt point that holds up well in warm climates and during shipping.
